Nestled
on the mountainside, right above the beautiful Snoqualmie Falls
and just 30 minutes from Seattle, is the Salish Lodge & Spa. We
stayed a weekend in April, enjoying the mountain retreat and, of
course, getting pampered.
The spa’s Northwest-Asian inspired décor is both rustic and
Zen-like; and the music playing throughout was soothing and
unobtrusive to this silent spa experience, during which guests are
asked to speak in tones just above an intimate whisper.
When we arrived for our spa treatments we were greeted
professionally and shown without any hesitation to our respective
changing areas then told to meet back at the front desk where we
were given a scarf to wear over our shoulders, color-coded to each
therapist to indicate who their next client is. Both Michael and I
had the signature Heated River Rock Massage, which we thoroughly
enjoyed and would highly recommend. My therapist did an excellent
job with the heated stones, using just the right amount of
pressure, and was respectful of my request for a quiet experience.
I left this massage feeling balanced and stress free.
Sunday, we both chose different treatments. I enjoyed a Green Tea
Body Therapy, a gentle full-body massage using warm blend of
essential oils designed to remove dry, devitalized skin cells and
improve circulation. I was totally relaxed afterwards, and my skin
was so soft and smooth. Michael had the Salish Massage and was
highly impressed by his therapist’s massage technique, especially
with regards to an ongoing foot ailment.
No spa treatment ever seems long enough if the ambiance is right
and you have an amazing therapist, both of which we experienced at
the Salish Spa. Our only complaint, a minor one, is that we found
the waiting area too small, making it a bit uncomfortable if there are
several people waiting. We both recommend the Salish Lodge & Spa
for a special anniversary, birthday, wedding, honeymoon, or just a
quick weekend away to decompress from everyday life.
Our spa experience extended from the spa to the comforts of our
rustic room, which was made complete with a wood burning fireplace
and a jetted bathtub perfect for two. The bathroom contains a mini
bar of spa products such as bath salts, bath oils, bar soaps and
more, perfect for creating your own in-room spa experience.
There’s also an extensive pillow menu. We chose a buckwheat pillow
filled with buckwheat hulls that possess unique therapeutic
qualities recognized for centuries in the Far East. The hulls
allow the pillow to mold to your neckline, relaxing your neck
muscles which in turn releases stress in the head, neck, and
shoulder area. We also decided on a pillow scented with lavender,
providing support for resting, sleeping and relieving stress.
Will we return to the Salish Lodge and Spa? Most definitely and we
hope again soon.
